 Iron in the water stained the shower.

Add a Shower to a Half Bath

Pre-Sale prep on this home included adding a shower. 

The shower stall will punch out into the garage. (Door to the right is access to the house from the garage.)

The shower is now in place, waiting for inspections. 

All done. The paint is still wet in this photo.

Bathroom Floor (with dry rot)

Doesn't that look nice?

The original flooring was no longer bonded to the floor, and was peeling up. 

So, we removed the toilet, fixed the dry rot, and replaced the flooring.

Adding a Shower

Just beyond the toilet here, we're going to put in a shower. 

Notice the shower pan is in...

We captured a hall closet to do this project. That's the entry just beyond the framing. 

This was ready for the plumbing contractor to do his magic.

What a great improvement for this master bathroom! 

Bathroom Countertop Install

Consider It Done Construction was hired to complete this job. 

We put the cabinet back together, and installed a new sink and countertop.

Bathroom Addition

This project was in a home with 2 bedrooms upstairs, and a walk-in closet. The customer wanted to convert that closet into a bathroom.

 

 

In order to communicate with the customer, Consider It Done Construction placed blue tape to show which doors would be removed, and where the shower and sink would be located.  

If you keep your eye on the shower area throughout this post, it will all make more sense.

These are the same 2 doorways after the walls were opened for plumbing and electrical. Notice the tape showing the shower (barely visible on the floor).

Work on the shower stall and walls has begun. The plumbing poking out of the wall indicates where the sink will be. This is a farmhouse, so the wainscoting was a great choice for the walls.

Shower pan work continues, and one-piece vinyl flooring has been installed. Notice the plumbing for the toilet in on the left.

First came the shower, sink/cabinet, and toilet. Then the addition of the lighting fixtures, ceiling fan, mirror, and towel rod and ring. The finished result.

Water Damage in Bathroom

If you look closely, the discoloration that comes from water damage is apparent in this flooring. 

The floor trim had to be removed first, in order to get the damaged flooring up. 

 

Consider It Done Construction repaired the damage, installed new vinyl flooring, and salvaged the original floor base. 

Bathroom Flooring Repair

This bathroom floor remodel is another gruesome one. We had to peel up the damage first. 

This is the same little nook next to the shower after the fix. 

It was a very complicated floor plan to do in just one piece of vinyl. 

Consider It Done Construction has the experience to lay even convoluted-shaped floors with just one piece of vinyl, resulting in a seamless install.

 

All that damage had to come out. (look for that floor vent in the next picture)

 We've got an 'after' picture from this angle...

There it is, all fixed.

Dry Rot Around Toilet

The toilet was rocking, so we had to open up the floor to see what was going on. 

It was obvious someone else had tried to fix this in the past. 

 We made the repairs properly....

 And then re-sheeted the entire bathroom floor. 

 Next, we installed new vinyl flooring. 

And re-installed the toilet and new floor base. 

Problem: Solved


 

Bathroom Countertop and Backsplash

 The customer wanted to upgrade this laminated countertop. 

They opted for a solid quartz countertop, and simple tile backsplash, Consider It Done did the carpentry work, and coordinated the installation of this entire project.

Uneven Bathroom Floor

Apparently, this was an ongoing problem, that was neglected. 

It might not look too bad in the photo...

So, we put a piece of wood down to show you.....Wow, that's one wavy floor!

 The damage was extensive. 

 We pulled the toilet, and stowed it in the tub for safe-keeping...

 and started demo on the floor. 

 We had to go really deep on this one.

It's amazing how damaging water can be.

Consider It Done Construction has a great deal of experience repairing dry rot.
Our observation is: the longer it is left un-repaired, the deeper the damage.

Bathroom Dry Rot Repair

This dry rot repair ended up being more extensive than was apparent initially. 

The tub area was affected.

During demo. Extensive dry rot was found in the floor sheeting, sub floor, and framework.

Still doing demo to find sound wood. 

The pry bar was easily stuck into the damaged wood beneath the tub. 

Notice in this hole, under the tub, the joist holding the tub is also damaged. 

All that wood, and the supporting structure underneath were repaired and reinforced. 

After repairs, the floor was sheeted with new wood, and prepped for vinyl.

Finished! 

Consider It Done Construction worked as quickly as we could on this project, because this was the only bathroom in this small home.
